Bente Koelink is a 16-year-old student at BIS involved in today’s societies issues and the way they impact the lives of individuals. Stereotypes in the media influence our opinions daily, but what can we do to overcome their effects?
Born in Germany, Leandra,15, has attended BIS since kindergarten. One social issue she feels passionate about is LGBT rights. In her talk, she discusses some basic rights gay and lesbian couples lack in Germany, and gives tips for parents who want to foster open communication with their kids about sexual orientation.

Jake, 14, hails originally from South Korea, He regularly relocates due to his father’s work, and this is his first year at Bonn International School. Jake believes gratitude has the power to transform the way in which a person looks at the world.
Laura Gonzalez comes from Madrid, Spain. She moved to Bonn in 2013. A year later, she spoke at TEDxYouth@BIS. This year, as someone who has herself experienced a variety of school systems, she is excited to explore the differences in school pedagogy.
Oliver Martino is 12 years old. Since video games and the internet are a passion of his, he is enthusiastic to share his talk on recently developed communication methods and how online activity affects our social behaviours, both in in cyberspace and IRL - in real life.
Ty, from Modesto, California, is 12 years old. He has lived all across the globe, in 3 continents. He loves nature, especially oceans and islands, but with plastic polluting the oceans, he often asks himself, “Who would want to swim in them?”
Supratim, 13, comes to Germany from India. He has now been studying at Bonn International School for two years. He is passionate about technology, and joined TEDx for its universal reach and appeal.
Yerin is an 11 year old from South Korea who is interested in the concept of being faithful to your human role; in other words, having the confidence in yourself as others have in you. She desires to spread this message of our duty as influential humans.
At eleven years-old, this is Matilde’s first time speaking on the TED platform. Deforestation is something that Matilde feels passionate about, and she hopes that her talk informs listeners about how their commonplace choices can make a big difference.
Ryan Krysinski, 14, moved to Bonn in 2016, after spending time across the USA as well as Hong Kong. He feels strongly that climate change will affect humanity for future generations to come. He intends to inform skeptics of the immediate as well as long-term economic benefits to combating climate change.
Kushagra Srivastava is 13 years old and comes from India. He joined TEDx because he wanted to practice speaking in front of big crowds. He enjoys giving presentations, playing soccer, the guitar, and basketball.
