Chosen by our TEDxYouth Clubs, the overarching concept that will drive our event this year is 'The Next Step'. We have many lenses through which we can view this: music, art, science, ways of thinking, ways of learning. Please accept our invitation to join us.
Bente Koelink is a 16-year-old student at Bonn International School involved in today’s societies issues and the way it impacts the lives of many individuals. Stereotypes in the media are what influences the opinions on our common sense on the daily, yet what can we do to notice them and overcome the effect they have on us?

Seung Bin Jake Joo
My name is Jake and I am an 8th grader in Bonn International School. I come from South Korea and I move around countries about every two years due to my dad's job. My talk is about gratitude and how we should be appreciative about everything in our life. I think gratitude is really important and has the power to transform the way a person looks at the world. I want to spread awareness about why we should have gratitude and how it can be beneficial to our lives.
Laura Gonzalez comes from Madrid, Spain. She moved to Bonn and started BIS in 2013, when she was in the 6th grade, and spoke in TEDxYouth@BIS in 7th grade. This year, Laura joined TEDx to speak about a topic she is constantly reminded of. Her talk explores the difference between old school and new school pedagogy. Laura herself has visited schools with different teaching methodologies and always notices the changes school systems go through to modernize the school system. However, are they taking a step too far? Because she and many of her peers have seen the benefits of both types of pedagogies, she wanted to answer the question: What should the next step in education be?
My name is Oliver Martino, and I'm 12 years old, and I'm in 7th grade. I have a bit of a mixed background, my father is from Canada, and my mother is from Norway, and I've lived in Italy for most of my life, I only recently moved to Germany (1 and a half years ago). My favorite thing to do is play video games, or be online. I chose to do a topic about how we communicate, and our social behaviors. I chose this because I am always online, and I do use it to socialize a lot, and it connects to me, because it's something I use all the time.
My name is Ty. I am from Modesto, California, USA. I am 12 years old. I have lived all across the globe in 3 continents. I love nature, especially oceans and islands but with plastic polluting the oceans, who would want to swim in them!
I am Supratim Kundu, an enthusiastic teenager from India, now two years studying in Germany. I am passionate about technology, and joined TedX for its universal reach and appeal.
My name is Yerin, I am come from South Korea. My Ted talk is about ‘Be faithful in your human role’, telling always be faithful in your human role, to not make other be disappointed at you, and not to be disappointed at your self. I am talking this topic, because many people in the world are not being faithful, and always playing, and I want to shout at those people, being faithful at your human role is important than anything else.
Hello, my name is Matilde Roquette, I am 11 years old and this is the first time I ever talk on Ted. I wanted my talk to be inspirational and something I felt passionate about. So my talk is about deforestation, and how to be sustainable with paper. You have probably listened to plenty talks like this, but that just shows you how important this problem is, so I hope my talk can inspire you to make a change.
My name is Ryan Krysinski, I come from the United States, from the state of California to be specific. I’ve only been living in Bonn since the middle of 2016 but I have also lived in Tennessee, Alaska and Hong Kong before moving here. I have selected my topic as I feel strongly that the issue of climate change is a(to over-simplify) serious threat to the futures of young people such as myself and future generations as well. I also feel as well that opponents of the necessary action to mitigate climate change simply ignore the fact that there are a great many opportunities for economic growth and technological progression in such incentives in the solutions that have been suggested. I wish to show that to my audience and thus get a group of people, however small to begin reflecting on this and hopefully sharing and communicate this in their own way.
My name is Kushagra Srivastava and I come from India. I am 13 years old. I joined TEDx because I wanted to practice speaking in front of big crowds. I enjoy giving presentations, and I think I do that quite well. My hobbies are playing soccer, the guitar, and basketball.
